Thank you for your
interest in the upcoming LDA conference. The conference will be held in
Spearfish June 11, 12 13, 2006. We are just now in the process of updating
our website with workshops offered and bio's on our speakers. Using the
past several years conferences and evaluations, I would most definitely say this
conference would definitely be a value to both you and your colleagues.
The layout of the conference will be general sessions on Sunday from 1-5 and a
combination of both breakout and general sessions on Monday and Tuesday.
We have speakers coming from Texas, Australia, Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, just
to name a few. The workshops will include but not be limited to,
diagnosing dyslexia, Learning Disability toolbox, Autism and Aspergers, ADD,
ADHD, teaching your students to say no to sex and peer pressure, organizing your
student and yourself, how to avoid stress burnout, transition, vocational
rehabilitation, investing your retirement funds, teachers round table, how to
write an effective IEP, advocating for your child, (student). Success and
LD...turning it around; LD and the Native American student; support groups, LD
and the law, news from Washington, how to work with NCLB, etc. Dr.
Tim Mitchell of Chamberlain School District will be giving a program that proved
successful for his teacher and students. Teacher round tables will be set
up and also vending areas if you have other areas you would like to see
covered, please let me know. Also please keep updated on the website as
new entries are made.
